Hi Dr. Thakker,

I apologize for the incomplete information.

These items mentioned above were 'flagged' as being abnormal.

Eosinophils 0.8 normal range is 0.0-0.7 giga/L
Estimated GFR 58 normal being >=60 mL/min
Cholesterol 6.12 normal being 2.00-5.19 mmol/L
LDL Cholesterol 4.33 normal being 1.50-3.39 mmol/L

My Eosinophils level has been abnormal for over a year now and my GFR has been abnormal for years now.

I had these tests done as part of my annual physical. But I also have had ongoing symptoms. I have had a skin itch I have suffered for 8 years now. In the fall and winter in particular it is at its worst. Has kept me up many a night and years ago I was taking nighttime Benadryl just to get some relief. It seems to calm down more in the spring/summer so it's not 'up' for me right now. This seemed to have started right after an abortion I had in 2006 when I was 46 years old.

I just saw an ears/nose/throat specialist yesterday (I have seen him for years) and he doesn't know why my left ear canal wants to keep closing..he can't even see my ear drum when he looks in. He performed an operation on it 4 years ago to remove the calcification build up and this improved my hearing for awhile but he just did a hearing test yesterday and it's bad again. He doesn't know why this is happening. He did a scope of my nose and throat to see why my sense of smell and taste comes and goes and seems to have been damaged as well. This has been going on for 4 years now as well. I can't smell and/or taste more than I can. Even when I can temporarily smell or taste it is mild and doesn't last. He has ordered more extensive blood tests and is having a scan done of my front brain and ear again. He says that 'rarely' loss of smell can be a tumor on the brain and sometimes that is the only symptom.

I should also let you know that I was hospitalized for 10 days back in 2007 because of a step A infection on my lower leg. It was causing sepsis. My energy levels have never been good and I am often tired. I don't sleep well either and have been taking 'fem med' and melatonin for 2 years and now even have sleeping pills as this wasn't working. I try to only take the sleeping pills when I need them.

Hope this helps!
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Oh yes and there is history of heart attacks on my Dad's side. His Dad died of a heart attack. My father had a heart attack at the age of 50 (he's now 77) and recently just recovered from bowel cancer. Low thyroid runs in our family on both sides. My mother died when I was 10 years old (she was 33) of Chron's disease but they also found cancer in her lymphatic system when they performed an autopsy.

I also just had my breasts examined and have a cyst in both breasts. They seem to be okay for now but will have to be checked again in October.

Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Please read the response

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Thank you for providing me such a detailed information. I would address your problem areas one by one:

Cholesterol:

Your total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol are high. LDL is the bad cholesterol. I would advice you to start a statin like rosuvastatin for the same along with diet changes.

Also you have not mentioned about the triglyceride levels, HDL levels which is the good cholesterol. Please send me that information.

Low GFR:

This can be from a chronic kidney disease. It needs further evaluation. I would advice you to have a serum creatinine level done, USG for kidney size, calcium, phosphorus, uric acid levels, Vit d3 levels and parathormone levels. Once these reports are available we can take the next step ahead.

Eosinophil count:

I wish to know the absolute eosinophil count. For this you need to upload your complete blood count herewith to help me calculate the absolute eosinophil count. This can be from allergies, worm infestation, parasitic infestations, drug allergy, ABPA etc. It usually responds to steroids like prednisolone.

I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker.

Brief Answer:
Normal reports for TG, HDL , Eosinophils

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Thank you for updating me with the reports. Your serum triglycerides, serum HDL and absolute eosinophil counts are in normal range. Hence my recommendations for you remain the same as per my previous reply. Do not worry about the eosinophil counts.

I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker.
