Posted on Mon, 16 May 2016
Question: I took a blood test and was told I have hgv1 and not hgv2. My test results are confusing and my doctor did not explain the results neither did she give me a rx for medicine. I don't know what to do or how to manage this. Please help. Can I spread this to my partner. I don't have breakouts.

Brief Answer:
Avoid contact if you have outbreaks.Get your partner tested.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome back to health care magic. I have gone through the photos, reports attached in your previous query.

The reports indicates that you are positive for HSV1 IgG antibodies and negative for HSV2.It indicates past infection.
HSV 1 usually affects around oral cavity, but can occur in genital areas. There are no herpes lesions in the photos attached.
As there are no active Lesions your doctor has not advised any antiviral drugs.
The chances of transmission of HSV,1 or 2 is higher when there are active lesions.
So you can use condoms when there are active genital lesions. If it is oral lesions avoid kissing during the eruptions if any.
You can even get your partner tested for HSV 1&2 antibodies.
HSV1 or 2 is not a serious disease to worry about.

You can get back for any clarification.
Thank you
