Brief Answer:
It may be due to some infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
He may have some infection.
He has fever with high total wbc count so infection is the most likely possibility.
Please send me reports of his differential wbc count. If he has high number of neutrophils or lymphocytes with normal morphology then its infection. If he has blast cells or atypical cells then it can be blood cancer.
But chances of blood cancer are rare.

Please send me his report of complete blood count so that I can help you further.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
