default
Posted on Tue, 21 Jun 2016
Question: My daughter is 18 years old, and normally in very good health. Had symptoms this morning of splotchy red patches on her face, especially around her eyes, and she felt pressure in her eyes, especially when she touched them. Symptoms got worse as the day has progressed - same as this morning plus body is achy, especially her neck, upper back, upper arms, and chest, and sensitive to the touch; face is swollen and red and splotchy; there is a lot of pressure in her head/ head hurts and her eyes are painful, esp her right eye. Can you tell me what might be wrong and / or what we need to do? My email is YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Seems to be viral exanthem

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
According to your complaints she seems to be having viral exanthem.
If I was her treating doctor I would recommend her to take tablet Chlorpheniramine 4 mg once at night and apply calamine lotion lotion on the affected areas twice daily.
She can continue with tablet Loratidine ( Claritin ) in the morning.
She can continue this for 4-5 days as the rash should settle in this time.
For bodyaches she can take tablet paracetamol.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to clarify any further doubts.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
