1. Twitches began earlier this year. They have increased in frequency somewhat.
2. I don't smoke or drink alcohol, and never have.
3. No medication.
4. No difficulty falling asleep. Always get up at least once to urinate though, and commonly 2-3 times. No lack of appetite.

One day in early July, I experienced extreme lightheadedness for about two hours beginning in late morning. I had to lie down and go to sleep, and it went away. But the twitching had been going on before that.

This past Sunday was a heat wave here, 96 degrees F. I had to walk no more than 5 minutes outside in the afternoon to get to a destination, and I felt a little dizzy after. The sensations in my head that I mentioned earlier got stronger and were fairly strong all week till now.

Since then, they have reduced in intensity to the level they were at before Sunday -- enough to notice, but not cause any disruption. These sensations occur almost all the time. I seem to have a little short-term memory loss.

Sometimes a sharp sensation will occur in the back of my head, on top, but they are mostly dull and seem to move around, and sometimes even extend down the back of my neck, or to my left jaw, or to the lower part of my forehead.

The twitching hasn't really changed much since it started, but now several times a day my left elbow will move sharply, or my lower abdomen will twist slightly to the right, or my right knee or right thigh will move. The left elbow seems to be most common, and it seems to be accompanied by a sensation in the back of my neck.

If it is anxiety, I don't know why I would have that. I have set up my life to be stress-free, and I eat no junk food or fast food.

It may be worth noting that last August I weighed 158 lbs, and now I weigh 186. I really don't know why that happened, as my eating habits have not changed. I understand metabolism slows as we age, but that's a lot of weight to gain in one year.

I have a previously scheduled appointment with my PCP on Sept. 8.

Brief Answer:
you need to see a psychiatrist or neurologist

Detailed Answer:
As I told you that twitching is not a disease but a habit and it is related to anxiety, stress or depression. You are gaining weight and that also tells that you are having some kind of mental problem.I would suggest you to meet a psychiatrist and discuss all this with him. I am sure that with few sessions you will be able to get rid of this twitching and you can also loose weight.
I would suggest you to take tablet Ciplar one daily and tablet xanax at night time. These will help in twitching till you meet your doctor.
I hope this answer will be useful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
