Brief Answer:
Likely due to fall.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist, here to answer your query.

I have gone through your attachment.Vertebral compression fracture commonly results due to fall, and tendency to develop this kind of fracture is much more in osteoporotic patients. This fracture is not a chronic process.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Regards

I recently had an ECG after an abnormal EKG. The ECG showed vent. rate 108bpm Sinus tachycardia, PR interval 158 ms, possible left atrial enlargement, QRS duration 88 ms , nonspecific ST abnormality, QT/QTc 368/493 ms, abnormal ECG, P-R-T axes 70 48 58 and prolonged QT. The cardiologist didn t seem very concerned and felt the abnormality was because of the medication I was taking - remeron for sleeping; I suffer from chronic insomnia. I have been on this medication for over two years and have never had any side effects or problems with it. In the past three-four months, however, I have been experiencing chest pains, some severe which is why I went to my physician to get the first EKG which showed a fast heart beat and was referred to the cardiologist for an ECG, EKG and a stress test. I was only on the treadmill for maybe 4 1/3 minutes before I experienced SOB and chest pains. They repeated the ECG and I was told it was abnormal and to discuss my medications with my psychiatrist and that I had nothing to worry about. When I see abnormal ECG, EKG and am taking nitro tablets with a family history of heart disease (father COPD, CHF and angioplasty; grandfather died of a heart attack), I have a tendency not to believe the doctor. I have not even been contacted by my physician for a follow-up visit. Should I be concerned. Cancer also runs in my family; my father died of colon, liver CA and I am breast cancer survivor. I d appreciate your comments. Should I seek another opinion? Thanks, Mary Kopco YYYY@YYYY I am a 61 y.o. white female, 137 lbs w/ hx of cancer (bilateral mastectomy and hysterectomy for CA of uterus), osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, high cholesterol (328), allergic to any statin drugs, being treated with Zetia 10 mg 1 x/day. Presently taking nitro tabs for chest pain, oxybutityn for overactive bladder, clonazepam 1mg 3x/day for anxiety and depression. I look forward to your response. Thank you.

Hello, I am from Canada and suffer chronic pain and fibromyalgia for 25 years. I am on methadone as one treatment and it has been recently altered here. Methadose solution for pain 10mg/ml Methadone HCI 10 mg/ml. Dose, drink 1.5ml four times daily. I can not take this as I said it has been changed. Now the government has made it sugar based cherry flavored, gag reflux crap. I have tried to wean my self off but have experienced anger, smashing plates, cried out for doctor assisted suicide as the pain and withdrawal of this drug is making me crazy. I am on subcutaneous lidocaine infusions weekly, nerve blocks in neck and shoulders, cortisone injections in both hips for bursitis and nerve blocks in lower back, L4,L5. I suffer with herniated, degenerative discs, c5,c6 too. I have osteoporosis, parathesia, IBS, awaiting surgery for bladder prolapse, endometriosis which required hysterectomy and oophorectomy and numerous laporoscopies leaving me with adhesions which are a constant cause of further pain. I am a chronic pain disease sufferer and to the world I look great...haha! I initially started to write to you only for advise on taking myself off methadone but here I went on and on. The list is long and I see many doctors and pain specialists however my quality of life is nil and I am only 55 years young. I can not seem to find answers, help or hope other than being prescribed opiates, methadone which has been changed to suit the government not the patients needs and numerous medications that make me worse. I am on a roller coaster of hell and pain and now I am withdrawing off this horrible new recipe of methadone as I throw up trying to take it. Why change something that was easy to take to this horrible sugar based cherry cough medicine taste that burns to the pit of my stomach whereby I need gravol settle? I am frustrated, in pain and have talked to nurse on line tonight...she told me to go to the hospital...LOL! Right! I can not live in this pain...my doctor retired, great guy...now I have a woman who has nine kids and never can catch up or give a you know what about her patients. I give up! This is only the tip of the ice berg...you have now idea many health issues I have! I have to leave my city to go for help to Vancouver, thank God for HOPE AIR! They took me to the last appointment with my Neurosurgeon and he has ordered another MRI, will be seeing me after or before if I can not take the pain! I am a mess...What happened to good doctors??? How did we get FIBROMYALGIA??? I have a clue...DDT spraying all over the playground I grew up in...playground was a gas line and electric power field...what do you think of that? Five out of six women who played there as children were not able to conceive!!! Gee, I wonder! I am on a quest to find answers and thought perhaps I would start here...I doubt I will get an answer though...Great! Off to cyber space this goes...I am from Canada and You are in the States! Nice! I was on a Canadian site...how all of a sudden does it go here and now I need to pay! Well, thanks for nothing....I will proceed elsewhere because I will find an answer and from you...obviously not!

If possible, I would prefer to receive my answer from a pain management physician if one is available. I have been treated by a Board-certified physician in Naples, Florida, for over 13 years. I have remained stable and have worked as an infusion RN while maintained on 40 mg Methadone daily for cervical radiculopathy and radiculitis, ( traumatic injury in 1993 with fusions and nerve damage) neuro pain in the area of my left greater trochanter/femur ( sustained a fall taking my garbage out and shattered the trochanter and fractured thefemur and now have a titanium rod, dynamic screw...bolts and plates. The rod extends into the left knee, but I now need knee replacements from Erosive Osteoarthritis and the docs are scratching their heads on what to do with the knee) and pain in both feet, ankles, and toes. Both knees are bone on bone, but the osteoporosis is a roadblock as the docs are concerned with the healing process. Bottom line, if there is a joint, I hurt there. I cannot take Neurontin as I suffered a pseudo-DIC syndrome and bled from every orifice until they got it stopped. I take Celebrex, but will eventually have the same issues I have had with all the other anti-inflammatories...GI distress. I have been through numerous medication protocols and finally found that the Methadone and Celebrex gave me enough relief that I could function and not be a slug with pain. I have minimal family and want to remain independent. I am doing my best at the age of 62 to function without being a burden to society. The problem is I recently moved to be nearer my daughter, who has my granddaughter and so I wanted to be closer to them, My pain management physician, who is Board certified, wrote a letter for me to bring to the new doc (he referred me to the only one he knew in Atlanta but she has retired) along with some of my records. He gave me three RX scripts with post-dated not to fill dates so that I would have my medication while securing a pain doctor. The problem is that I have been trying for almost 3 months to see someone and it is impossible. I cannot see a Rheumatologist at Emory until July, and I cannot see a pain management doctor because I do not have a referral. I cannot get a referral because I cannot get a doctor early enough. My insurance does not require it, but Emory does. This is frightening. I do not know what to do. I am terrified as I know what the pain is like and my docs told me that I could not just stop the Methadone after being on it since 1996. I was told by one PCP to just stop taking it! And I was told my an internal medicine doctor that he would not see me because he did not support treating anyone with Methadone unless he or she was an addict, and even then, he could not treat with Methadone. He wouldnt take me as a patient! It is scary. I have never encountered this kind of treatment. I am staying with friends and if I cannot move....I just do not want to do that to anyone. No one should have to deal with my pain. I do not know where to turn. I do not want to have to drive 10 hours to Naples just to get my prescriptions. I want to go back to work but know it will be impossible without my medication. My hands are so very painful as well. It is so depressing and I dont know what to do or how to get help. I was told by the registration desk at Emory that the pain doctors do not prescribe opoids for non-cancer pain. Please...where do I go as I will be out of my medication in less than a week. I have been trying to get in with someone for almost 3 months.

If I have rheumatoid arthritis , what is safest medication that also helps osteoporosis? How can I reduce swelling in feet and hands? I'm taking high-dose fish oil for RA symptoms. It seems to have reduced pain but not swelling. Thank you. YYYY@YYYY
