Brief Answer:
This reflects brain damage suffered before, during or post delivery.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

Brain atrophy indicates that he has probably suffered some brain damage, which may be due to infections or hypoxic injury-commonly in infants. As you said,he had bacterial meningitis, that may have lead to brain damage.

Cerebral palsy means motor deficits(like weakness in limbs, incoordination, posture, balance) due to some brain injury which occurred in perinatal period or neonatal period.

Did your baby go through delayed cry at birth or any other complication, around the birth period.Did mother suffer any complications?
If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Brief Answer:
Paediatric surgeon consultation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

As far as hernia is concerned,it is not related to brain atrophy and for it,please refer to a paediatric surgeon.

Further,no specific treatment is needed for brain changes as if now. Please keep observing for his developmental milestones. If milestones remain normal and no other brain related symptoms occur, then no treatment will be needed. However,if milestones get delayed or any other neurological complications occur, then treatment will be aimed depending on the symptoms.

The bottom line is-treatment will be aimed at symptoms.Brain atrophy can't be reversed any way. So,it need not be treated.

Hope that I have answered your query. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up else please close the thread, rate it and write a review.
