Question: My son has had a multitude of problems the last year or so and I cannot shake the feeling that something is wrong with him.
He has headaches several times a week.
He also has language confusion... he cannot think of what he wants to say and/or gets confused.
He complains of a stomachache after every meal, but has a very poor appetite.
He has only gained 5 lbs in the last 3 years.
He has what I think is night terrors 3 to 4 times a week.
November before last his doctor found that he was not building proper antibodies and gave him the pnumovax. Repeat blood work 6 weeks later showed that he built the antibodies he was missing. Yet he is still much sicker than my other 2 children one of which he shares a bed with and his brother never gets sick when he is.
He is 5 years old weighs 37lbs and is 41 1/2 inches tall.

Brief Answer:

Will get better.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Each child had his own way of growing.

From your query, it looks like your child has night terrors which are pretty normal at this age.

No need to worry. That will settle on its own.

His height and weight are normal for his age.

Few tips:

1. Flu shot every year to prevent sickness.

2. Let him eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to boost immunity naturally.

3. Ask your doctor whether it could be allergies which make him fall sick.

4. Let him grow at his own pace. Don't compare with a sibling.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Arun, Pediatrician, Pulmonology
