What Do Blood Stains In Urine Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Mar 2017
Question: I am 49 year old male. noticed couple of blood stains once on my underwear many years ago. Then if did not happen again until once in October 2015. But it happened yet again in October 2016. And since then It has happened three times; once in January 2017 and twice in February 2017.

Some times the blood came after the urine stream. Other times during sleep or during the day. Few times there is a little burn at the tip of the penis when it happened.

Urine tests were clear every time. There is no pain or any other feeling in the penis or area around it.

I am in good health. No medical conditions.

Could this be Myoglobin or Hemoglobin and not RBCs?

Many thanks

Brief Answer:
Genital infection/inflammation/or other suspected

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concern.

The presence of blood after urine stream or at night or during the day, they are indicating possible genital problem: Infection or other types of irritation.

As you had 3 consecutive urine tests, and no RBCs were found, and if blood was present, at least it could have been detected during the biochemistry evaluation of the urine.

I'm still thinking about genital problem. However, genital swab test and genital ultrasound are recommended for further evaluation.

If tip of penis is irritated, then fungal infection is suspected. Of confirmed, antifungal treatment locally is highly recommended.

If nothing will be found, then a complete blood count is advised further.

Get plenty of water and cranberry supplement.

Hope it was of help.
