What Could Cause A Recurrent Scab That Itches And Heals Just Below The Navel?
Question: A few months ago I noticed some kind of insect bite on my skin below my belly button. It is taking very long to heal. What could it be?
A very thin scab appears on my skin, and then eventually falls off, but this cycle has been going on for months. Sometimes I do scratch it, but I have been putting on a bandage lately. I am wondering if this could be some skin condition or virus from the insect.
By the way, the reason it looks red is because after taking a shower, the scab became very lose and I rubbed it a bit to take it all off. Not sure if that was a good thing to do.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of fungal infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I can see a red, scaly patch of skin. It seems like a fungal infection.
I suggest you to apply an OTC topical antifungal e.g clotrimazole 1 %cream Or ketoconazole 2 %cream, twice daily for 2-4 weeks.
In addition I suggest you to take an oral antihistamine e.g Cetrizine 10mg tab once every evening for symptomatic relief from itching.
Regards
