Brief Answer:
"Bartholin cyst" at the genital area: suggestions and guidance.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome back to the forum and thanks a lot for your follow up.

After analyzing the picture with best diligence I can make out that you have "bartholin cyst" at the genital area.

To tell you simply regarding this condition: It is formed due to blockage of glands at the genital area. These glands are known as Bartholin's glands and accordingly the cyst formed is known as bartholin cyst.

You must be wondering as why this cyst formed. It is due to the retention of the secretions of the glands which can occur in anyone. So do not get tensed for any grave possibility of the same. It is neither a cancerous condition and nor is related to any sexually transmitted infection. So just relax and do not worry.

I suggest you to meet either a surgeon or a gynecologist to get it removed. Though in general if it is small then no treatment is required but in your kind of cases it is better to get removed as can get increased in size and then infected.

I hope these information will help you. If you have any further queries I will be glad to help.

Brief Answer:
The cyst requires a procedure known as "marsupialization".

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome back and thanks a lot for your further follow up. Bartholin cyst can occur near the labia minora close to vaginal opening or slightly upper side also. As per the picture the best possibility is of bartholin cyst only.

The cyst requires a procedure known as "marsupialization". This procedure is a specific one where the edges of the cyst are stitched in such a manner that it should not recur back. A dermatologist as well as a gynecologist and surgeon all are equally potent to perform this procedure. You can meet any one of these who can do such procedure.

I hope these information will help you. If you have any further queries I will be glad to help.

I have another question doctor i think I described it wrong it's not on my labia its on my clitoral hood. Does that change anything?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sanjay Kumar Kanodia (47 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
If on clitoral hood then only other possibility is of "Sebaceous cyst".

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome back and thanks a lot for your swift follow up with further queries.

In case if you give the details that the bump is not on labia but on the clitoral hood then the only other possibility remains of "Sebaceous cyst".

To tell you regarding this condition : It is formed due to blockage of the oil glands of the affected skin. It is also totally painless and remains silent till the time it becomes infected. It is rather a simpler cyst than bartholin cyst and can be easily taken out by excision. It has very less tendency of recurrence if properly drained.

It requires a personalized examination to determine the possibility of any of these conditions. I reassure you fully that both of these are quite simple conditions and can be treated very easily.

Anyhow the structure is basically a cyst and as per the size I personally request you to get it treated. As genital area is quite prone for infection so it is better to take care of the cyst in its small size rather than waiting for it to become wither infected or become larger in size.

I hope these information will help you. If you have any further queries I will be glad to help.

Brief Answer:
It is better to get the area analyzed personally

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Its my pleasure to guide you for your health problem. It is better to get the area analyzed personally and get best possible treatment for it. You can continue to clean it with betadine till that time. I further suggest you to use Betadine in diluted form ( 1 teaspoon of betadine with double the amount of water) to reduce the contact sensitivity with the same. Do it gently and do not try to pinch or pop the area.

My all best wishes for your early recovery.

Sebaceous cyst: location near clitoral hood area central yellow spot.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Thanks a lot for sending the good resolution pictures. I beg your pardon for the inconvenience.

After analyzing the picture I can make out that the swelling is present near the clitoral hood area. I can also make out that there is a central yellow spot with a dot over the area.
