What Health Concern Can Lead To Elevated Liver Enzymes?
Question: Welcome to 'Ask a Doctor'. Please type your question here...
Hello I am a 48 year old female with a history of early breast (2011). I recently started a few new medications in March of 2018 (Lexapro, Lipitor, Baby Asprin and Diltiazem). I also take Arimidex, Synthroid and .25 Xanax at bedtime. My recent lipid panel showed my ALP number is a little elevated, and over a year, by AST and ALT are a little higher:
ALP 128 (86 March 2018, 90 April 2017)
AST 38 (35 March 2018, 18 April 2017)
ALT 37 (39 March 2018, 11 April 2017)
Bilirubin 1.3 ( I have Gilbert's Syndome)
Calcium 10.1 (Has been on higher side since Hysterectomy in 2011)
Total Protein 6.8
Albumin 4.6
Aside from the new medications, I did have 4 alcoholic beverages 5 days prior to the blood test. I would like to understand with my cancer history, or health in general are these numbers concerning? Thank you in advance for your time.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Many diseases and conditions can contribute to elevated liver enzymes. In your case this elevation in mine opinion it’s due to the medications that you are using especially Lipitor.
Those results in general are not as high to be concerned
I will suggest you abdominal ultrasound to have a better option about your liver structure and a blood test 1-2 months later
Regards

Thank you again. Finally, could low calories <1000, low net carb <60, cause raised alkaline phosphate levels or liver enzymes?
