Question: hi,
my eyelids have a yellowish crust on them in the mornings and this seems to continue throughout the day. there is no redness or swelling. i have tried applying baby oil to the affected areas and then washing them 10 minutes later with baby shampoo, but this only helps for a few days and it stings. any suggestions?

Is that crust on the skin of the eyelids or this is a crust on the margins with eyelashes ???
Is the issue with both eyes or on a single side??
How many days this had been there??
Do you feel and have eye rheum too??
Can you please spare some time and upload some pictures of this lesion (well lit and good resolution for better review)??

Hope I answered all of your queries. Let me know if you have further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you. Hi Dr. Hanif,
Thank you for your reply. Re: your questions, the yellowish material is at the area where the eyelashes meet the lid, and mostly directly at the bases of the lashes and away from the eye proper about 1/8 inch. It's not so much crusty as it is crumbly and dryish -- you could approximate it, I think, by mixing corn flour dust and water and letting it dry. It is in both eyes and I've been trying various remedies for about 6 months. The best is baby oil right before I take a bath, then wash it off. That clears it up for 3-4 days. I can't send you a pic because I just did that treatment and right now there's nothing to see. I kind of think it's some sort of microbial infestation. I don't know what eye rheum is, but the areas aren't swollen or red except maybe slightly. Thx, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Bacterial infection. Needs treatment !

Detailed Answer:
Thanks Mr. XXXXXXX for a follow up query. Thanks for providing details to make the diagnosis easy.

Yes, this is a bacterial infection of the eye. Well, if I was your treating Physician I would have prescribed you with Moxicip eye drops to be used in both the eyes; And, Femicone eye drops and of course a follow up after a week. If you feel pain too, you may add Tylenol by mouth in the treatment regimen.

You may consult your local Ophthalmologist for the same prescription. He will also do the physical examination and will go for the prescription accordingly.

Hi Dr. Hanif,
Thank you for your attention to my issue -- I will give you 5 stars in the review. Before I close this out, I have another concern and I see that I have 2+ more days in my time frame -- can I ask another question even though it's on a different subject?
Thanks again, XXXXXXX

Hi Dr. Hanif,
Ok, my other issue is that my feet hurt and get hot at night, so much so that I will sometimes have to get up and soak them in cold water just to be able to sleep. I saw a neurologolist to see if he could determine if I had peripheral neuropathy -- he did $800 worth of tests and discovered nothing. I do have some back pain for which I take Celecoxib -- slight arthritis, I think, but the xrays for my feet look normal. I use an ice pack after I go hiking and that seems to help a little, but I would like to know what the problem is and whether or not there is something else I can do. Thanks again, XXXXXXX
