Question: what can cause a strong smell of liver bile and a yellowish color in the stool.

The bile salts and pigments are eventually excreted through the feces. The green pigment that colors the bile, gets converted into the yellow pigment in the large intestines, and this colors the stool yellow. The bile secretion occurs from the liver and it seems that the liver could be stressed due to some reason and is trying to compensate by secreting extra amounts of bile. Alcohol could be a primary offending factor. I would insist restricting alcohol intake. If that does not help, the next step would be to get an ultrasound of the whole abdomen done. Once you get that done, you can upload the reports and I can guide you accordingly.
