default
Posted on Mon, 9 Jun 2014
Question: I was told by a dentist to use hydrogen peroxide mixed with water to help with my swollen gums. Areas of my gums have turned white after using just now, will this go away? How long should it take to go away and should I stop using the peroxide for now?

Brief Answer:
Dilute it with equal amount of water.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

This is Dr. Priyanka tiwari answering your query .

I have gone through your query, as your dentist has advised you to rinse it with hydrogen peroxide for swollen gums and now your gums turned white, see this white discoloration in gums are seen as hydrogen peroxide is oxidizer it kills bacteria in mouth, there is nothing to be worried discoloration will go away .

What i will suggest you dont rinse it with full strength hydrogen peroxide , dilute with equal amount of water and you can also do XXXXXXX warm saline gargle two - three times a day it helps you in swollen gums.

Hope I have answered your query .

If you have further query feel free to ask I will be happy to help.

Regards ,
