What Causes White Colour Patch On Leg?
Question: Hello doctor
My 2 months old baby just got a white colour patch on her leg since two days
She did not ve this at birth nor it's a birth mark
I m attaching the picture of the mark
What could be this be?

Although I have not looked at the image, there is a possibility of a fungal infection. In fungal infections applying clotrimazole cream along with some moisturizer topically for around 10 days should provide relief but would like to suggest you only after seeing the picture.

I have seen the images.
They are not vitiligo, where there is complete destruction of the melanocytes in the affected region. It is probably not the case here. It is rather likely to be pityriasis versicolor which is caused by a fungus.
Treatment is simple and as I mentioned. Just apply candid lotion (clotrimazole) along with some moisturizer for a couple of weeks and things should eventually be fine.
You need not worry.

I would request you not to panic. It is very unlikely to be vitiligo. I can make it out clearly from the image. Some lack of pigmentation might occur in children where melanocytes are just gaining their melanin.
Even if it is a fungal infection, it might not clear even in 10 days and still probably there is nothing to worry.
But for your satisfaction, you may visit a dermatologist and get your worries cleared.
