Brief Answer:
Chemotherapy and chronic blood loss

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern and am sorry for your distress.

In acute blood loss of 1 to 2 liters , the patient usually goes into hypovolemic shock and requires emergency fluid resuscitation and measures to locate and stop the bleeding site. This is often related to a large internal bleed.

In your sister's case its likely to be related to the chemotherapy that she is receiving which can lead to decreased production by the marrow and increased destruction peripherally. It can also be chronic blood loss from both the urinary and gastrointestinal tract. The chemo is also responsible for the weight loss in addition to the anemia.

Let me know if you have any query.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
