Brief Answer:
As detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Male/81 - renewed hunger seems to come on more quickly - wants to know whether diverticulitis and rolling gurgling stomach can cause weight loss from 175 to 170 - visited a Doctor - no relief with Hyoscyamine - noted medical history and medication history ...

My thoughts:
- Please tell me the duration of weight loss.
- Weight loss of 5 can occur due to diverticulitis with rolling-gurgling stomach. Diverticulitis can cause complication of the inflammation of the small intestines as all the intestines are in vicinity of each other causing the irritation and thus rolling and gurgling. This in turn can cause less absorption of food and weight loss. This may also be the reason for no relief with Hyoscyamine alone as one needs a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole for control of infection.
- Hunger is a natural phenomenon and can come on quickly and sometimes indicated improvement in symptoms and disease process control.
- I would advise to have colonoscopy and biopsy to rule out any cancer and CT scan to know the status and extent of infection, any complication and malignancy.

I hope this answers your query, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
