Increasing weight could have been caused by the medicines used to treat diabetes.
Since the nature of the treatment is not being mentioned, both the Insulins and Sulfonylureas (like Glibenclamide or Glimepride) are known to cause weight gain as their side effects.
In this regard, you are advised to consult your treating doctor to kindly review the medicines prescribed & to use an alternate but safer medicine to treat diabetes.
