Question: Hi I am a 58 year old white male, for some time my energy has been way down, my lungs hurt and I have pain by my heart near the middle of my chest, at night cough for at least 6 months, I have also noticed my balance is off when I walk in the dark, thanks

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion we should first rule out cardiac cause for your symptoms.
Because after 50 years of age, risk for cardiac cause are more.
So any chest pain in your age should be first investigated for cardiac cause.
So my advice for you is to undergo following tests.
1. ECG
2. 2d echo
If both are negative then no need to worry much for cardiac cause.
Chest x ray should also be done because you are having difficulty in lungs too.
So better to consult doctor and discuss all these.
