Question: WHAT IS WRONG. Since Monday I have been throwing up, stomach pain and bloating, chronic diahrrea, temp ranges from 99 to over 101. Extremely weak, especially in leg muscles. At er and also a walk-in clinic, several guesses: enteritis, stomach pains, etiology unknown. No medication to help. Not getting better. just moved here and can't get appointment to a doctor for a month. history a yr ago of kidney stones and uterine tumor. all removed, no cancer. Then caught Klepsiella in hospital, on iv antibiotics for 3 wks. Stomach continues to gurgle and be noisy. Sometimes hurt both sides, at kidneys in back, then in front, esp right side of abdomen. I have my appendix. Last meal I had was lunch Monday, prepepared salad from store, evening had ham, cheese, chicken sandwich, I made with ingredients fresh from store. Ate about 7 or 8 pm. abt 11 pm, woke and threw up and threw up and threw up, and constant diarrhea since then.

Brief Answer:
Might be gastroenteritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome,
I have gone through your query.

I would like to know few more information like
How many episodes of diarrhoea? How is the consistency?

Based on the information I feel you have gastroenteritis.

Most cases of gastroenteritis are caused by viruses and requires only symptomatic treatment, consuming contaminated foods (even though they may appear fresh) or drinks is another common cause.

You do not need antibiotic and also not anti diarrhoeal agent.

I would suggest you to drink plenty of water or electrolyte solutions to prevent dehydration.
Add bland foods to your diet, such as bananas, toast, oatmeal and rice in small amounts every couple of hours. Avoid spicy food. Restrict meat products for next few days.

You can take curd which will be beneficial. Eat freshly prepared home food rather than processed/prepared ones.

You can take capsule Omeprazole 20 mg before breakfast, empty stomach once daily for a week. Probiotics like Sporolac or Ecobion will be beneficial.

I would also suggest for stool routine microscopy examination and based on the report, I would have decided on the next line of management (requirement of antibiotic).

Hope this helps, let me know if you've any further queries.
Take care.
