What Causes Vomiting Post Vaccination?

default
Posted on Fri, 23 Oct 2015
Question: My two months infant just received a host of vaccines. The last one being a vaccine for Rotovirus. Today after 24 hours she suddenly threw up almost all the milk she was breastfed and the formula milk. What should we do now? Should we breastfeed her straightaway? How long should we wait? What other precautions we need to take?

Brief Answer:
Observe the baby..Give her breastfeed

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

I can understand your concern. This vomiting is just a coincidental finding and it is not related to vaccination.
I won't get worried if vomiting is not recurrent, baby is active/playful,accepting feeds well, passing urine and there is no abdominal distension.
You can just continue the breastfeed as usual.
Keep her upright for few minutes and burp well after each feed.
If vomiting persists, develops fever/loose stool or she is getting lethargic or irritable;get her to a pediatrician for evaluation and management accordingly.

I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more query.
