Posted on Thu, 14 May 2015
Question: I have been sick for the last 15 days. last night I started throwing up a red mixture. I've been coughing for at least 12 hours straight so bad that it feels like I broke a rib. I don't know what to do. I thought it was a cold and I've been taking a lot of medicine but I can't seem to get better what can I do.

Brief Answer:
It requires to be investigated

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
If you are vomiting red fluid after a bout of vomiting, it may be blood from a tear at the junction of the food pipe with the stomach ( XXXXXXX Weiss syndrome ). This can be of varying severity and further vomiting can make it worse.
If I were you, I would go to the ER and have it assessed. Also the cause of the persistent cough has to be determined through examination, Xray and blood tests. If you have seen the doctor or have any test results, please upload them.
