Question: hi doc,
my son is 20 months old. since morning he is having vomiting and since evening he started having watery stools. I went to the paediatrician in the evening. and she prescribed zinc dry suspension /Bacillus clasii spores suspension. And since evening he had around 6 motions. I am trying to keep him hydrated by ORS and butter milk. and for solids I am giving him rice porridge.

I am a little tensed and is not able to decide if I should get him admitted. please help.

Brief Answer:
Admission for a day is best of all choices.

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

I am Dr. Neel Kudchadkar and I will help you out here.

The medicines that the child specialist has given are to augment losses due to loose motions.
However, the best path is a stool test (quick and easy), and localizing the reason the problem is taking place.
At this time, I would suggest, being in a hospital environment for a day or two, because everything you need is available on the spot.
Lastly, the infectious origin of the problem must be solved, to gain the best results.

Do ask questions if any doubts arise.
