What Causes Vaginal Spotting After Intercourse While Treating Yeast Infection?

default
Posted on Wed, 9 Aug 2017
Question: Hi, I took fluconazole on the 6th of July for a suspected yeast infection (self prescribed). On the 10th I started spotting after sex - pinkish brown. Very little, but I'm still spotting now. Is this normal. I'm not due a period until 27th July and I normally have 35 day gaps with only a day of spotting before a period. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Yeast infection most likely

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I can understand your concerns.

You must be having the yeast infection of the vagina which has caused such spotting. There is no need to worry about it. This is not likely your period.

This vaginal infection can be treated by vaginal pessaries containing Clotrimazole. These are available over the counter. You need insert them every night for a week.

Let me know if you need any more help.
