What Causes Vaginal Pain After Removal Of A Tampon?

default
Posted on Sat, 10 May 2014
Question: After removing a tampon that had pretty much no blood on it, and was hard to remove, I am having sharp pain in the area of removal. Have I damage something? What can I do to lessen the pain? do I need to see a Dr after my period is over? I have switched to pads but am still in severe pain.

Brief Answer: FOLLOW THE ADVICE. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for writing to us. 1) Pain may be due to blunt trauma or narrow vaginal introitus. Pressure effect from tampon or bacterial infection may cause this type of pain. 2) Initially, I suggest to maintain genital hygiene properly and you must switch to sanitary napkin. Hot water soaked pad can be used to reduce pain for 2 to 3 days. You can take painkiller with antacid if vaginal pain is moderate to sever. You should avoid chemical cosmetics or scented soap or perfume around genital region which will irritate or produce more pain. If pain doesn't reduce after period is over, I suggest one pelvic examination (with or without Speculum) to rule out vaginal infection, polyp or any kind trauma. Kindly, consult with your Gynecologist regarding this. Hope, this information is quite helpful to you. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query. Wish your good health and take care yourself. Regards, Dr Soumen For future query, you can directly approach me through http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/Funnel?page=askDoctorDirectly&docId=63326
