What Causes Vaginal Infection While On Cipro?

Posted on Fri, 19 Feb 2016
Question: I am concerned about some things happening in my life. I have had infections pop up all over my body at different times. About four months ago, I had a baseball size infection come up on my vagina and then a couple of weeks later I had another one of the same size on my bottom. I then had an infection in my eye that swelled my face and then one in my ear that also swelled my face. Then one came up on my face that was huge and then in my ear again. Now I have one on top of my head. It is a big lump and feels like maybe three spots. I also have some soreness in my nostrail. My daughter said that I took the antibiotic cipro when I developed a vaginal infection. Could there be a link?

Brief Answer:
don't think there is a link with cipro

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

There seems to be a string of skin and soft tissue infections. It is unlikely to be related to cipro.

We need to ascertain the type of infection first. Aspirating one of these lesions and looking for the organism responsible should help. Then we can treat accordingly.

Also, we should try to look for any immunosuppressive disorder which may be causing these repeated infections. Diabetes may be one of them.

Hope this helps.

Regards
