What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Intercourse?

Question: I had bleeding after intercourse which sometimes happens. But then I developed an odor that reminded me of a bandaid. I was empirically treated for bv and no change. My husband is my only partner, no std hx. When I examined myself, it feels like my cervix was torn!! I have an IUD in place. No pain. Do I need to do anything else?

Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Bleeding after intercourse or post coital bleeding is present in:
1. cervical or vaginal lesions like erosions, polyp
2. vaginal candidiasis
3. cervical cancer
Smelly vaginal discharge can be present in vaginal infections as well as in all the conditions mentioned above. The IUD in the uterus generally do not cause post coital bleeding.
I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined internally, investigated including a vaginal smear and pap smear examination and get the further treatment accordingly.
