Question: Hi

I'm having trouble urinating. I feel that I need to go every 5 minutes but when I do go a few drops come out and that's it. After I urinate I'm very sensitive in that area and is like a tingling sensation. When I wipe myself I have notice that there is blood coming out. Sometimes quite heavy and sometimes quite light. I am also getting pain in the lower abdomen which feel like period pain. My cycle finished last week so it can't be my period. Please can u advise

Brief Answer:
Urinary Tract Infection should be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:

According to your information, it is suggestive of Urinary Tract Infection. One routine urine analysis including culture test will be worthwhile to confirm the diagnosis.

One pelvic ultrasound scan is also advisable to rule out uterine or cervical pathology like endometriosis or polyp etc.

TREATMENT: I suggest to take one course of ANTIBIOTIC (like Ciprofloxacin) & URINE ALKALISER (to be taken with water). It will help to control urine infection.

Some other investigations may be required according to clinical examination, urine test and scan report.

PREVENTION: You must drink plenty of water (2.5 to 3 lit/ day) to flush out the body toxin, take cranberry juice (one glass) regularly, maintain genital hygiene properly, empty bladder in time, avoid unprotected sex (if you are sexually active) and wear clean-cotton underwear only.

Hope, it helps for you. Wish you good health and take care.
