Brief Answer:
Need to consult qualified Urologist .

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your 71 years old father has urgency for urination .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Does he have other urinary symptoms like frequency for urination ,poor steam, nocturnal frequency for urination suggestive of Enlarged Prostate which is common at this age .

The urgency for urination is due to what is called as Over Active Bladder (OAB) syndrome and at this age is always associated with obstructive voiding symptoms due to bladder outlet obstruction secondary to enlarged prostate .

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis with post void urine residue .
3) Serum PSA.
4) Uroflowmetry.

Start him anti muscuranic drug like Darifenacin along with Tomsulosin once daily.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

I am a healthy 70 year old female, uterus was removed, who has trouble holding my urine, but only when I have the urge like drinking lots of water, a cola (within 45 min), frequently 3-4xs a night, first thing in the morning. But, ..I can also go up to 8 hours during my work day. When I have to go it's immediate and have trouble holding it, especially the closer I get to the toilet. I wear a pantiliner regularly and am thinking of using something a little more absorbant. What kind of a doctor should I see and what are my options?

Hello. I am a 22 year old married woman. I have been prone to UTI s since I was a child. I ve had three in the past four months. I have one right now that is unlike any I ve had before. My lower back aches, a constant feeling of an urgency to urinate with no relief, nausea , I will get hot/ cold , no burning when I urinate but my urethra constantly feels irritated. I went to the E.R. on 03/17 which showed bacteria in my urine and they gave me cephalexin . I was taking the cephalexin until yesterday, when at my follow up dr appointment I was switched to ciprofloxacin . The dr I seen yesterday submitted my urine for a culture test and is referring me to a urologist , but she told me to expect at least a two week wait before I can see the urologist. My symptoms seem to be MUCH worse at night and an hour or so after I wake up they subside but never got away. Please help! I don t know what s wrong with me, antibiotics aren t helping. I ve been drinking tons of water, avoiding caffeine, no sexual activity, drinking sugar-free cranberry juice. I am starting to get anxiety over this because I never feel relief. I just want to know what is wrong and how I can fix it. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I m 21 and I keep having frequent pees. I went to the doctor, they gave me anti-biotics for bladder infection . It didn t go away. I try not to drink before bed so I don t have to wake up 4-5 times. I went to the doctor again and was sent to do an ultrasound. I did that and nothing showed up other than the fact that after I urinated, there was still some fluid in my bladder. I went back to the doctor and she said that it may be an overactive bladder . I m waiting for my appointment with a urologist right now and a blood test for diabetes . But for the past 2 weeks I ve been having sharp pain from my bellybutton running all the way down to my vagina every time I flex my abs a certain way or arch my back (backwards). I have not seen an MD about the pain yet. Are there any other possibilities (other than diabetes and overactive bladder) of what this can be?
