What Causes Upset Stomach And Dizziness While Having Anxiety?

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Oct 2016
Question: I have had anxiety attacks for 20 years but it seems to have turned to Stomach issues and dizziness especially if I don't get a good night sleep. I am then dizzy and have stomach issues for days. I also started getting stomach problems when out at things I enjoy and am starting to avoid it. I have tried lexapro which worked for years but this past bout it didn't work or made it worse. I have tried natural stuff like Insolitol and tapping.
I never really feel depressed except the fact that I can't do what I want. My research online points to IBS or something like that. I do have several anxiety attacks so I have always been treating that but not GAD or IBS.
Do you have any suggestions or does my symptoms sound like IBS or GAD.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

From the available description I do not think it is irritable bowel syndrome or other thing but seems that complications of chronic anxiety taking place. I mean to say that a chronic form of anxiety disorder often results in development of other symptoms related to body rather than brain. The symptoms include pain at multiple sites, gastric discomfort, bloating, nausea, vomiting, dizziness among others.

Your current symptoms after a bout of stress or decreased sleep are clear indication that there is possibility of full blown somatization disorder in near future.

In my view rather than ignoring it is important to seek treatment for anxiety again to prevent these complication. Since it is just start of complication it will be easy to tackle now rather than in future.

I hope this helps you.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
