What Causes Upper Right Quadrant Pain?

default
Posted on Fri, 7 Apr 2017
Question: I have a light pain on the right side of my stomack, (under my upper ribs and runs straight down) I used to have this pain right after feeling very angry but as soon as I calmed down the pain disappeared.
But lately it comes and stays for hours with no reason. Along with this I have felt inflammation in my rectum and I'm worried.
My appetite and my bowel movement are normal.
Thanks for your help.

Brief Answer:
You should get an ultrasound abdomen.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen could be due to Gall bladder stone,Right kidney stone etc.As your pain is related to anger,it could be musculoskeletal pain.I prescribe skeletal muscle relaxant tablet containing Thiocolchicoside 4mg twice daily to my patients with similar complaints. But,you should get an ultrasound abdomen as the pain is coming on and off.
Regarding pain in the rectum, you should take anti inflammatory tablet. If there is no response, Colonoscopy has to be dome.
Please consult your doctor and get an Ultrasound abdomen.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
