What Causes Unusual Headaches And Dizziness?

default
Posted on Thu, 26 Feb 2015
Question: Today I received an hour facial and I was in a reclining position for the entire procedure. My face was steam for a lot of the time and there was a massage on my face and shoulders as well. My hands were in warming mitts. When it was all over, I XXXXXXX up out of table and get his awful dizzy rush and walking around for a half hour afterwards was very wobbly. Nine hour later today, I still have a leftover headache and feel dizzy briefly when I turn my head quickly or stand quickly. What do you think happened to cause this?

Hi dear.Thanks for your query.

It is quiet obvious that your spa is not the reason for your dizziness.I would like to know some more information-
Did you have a similar experience in your past?Have you anytime felt dizzy?
Was there any swaying when you got up from the chair?Any speech abnormalities/difficulty?Palpitations?How could you manage to come home?
Do you have blood pressure? Are you a diabetic?Any history of ear/sinus, nose or throat infections?
Medical illness, history of surgeries in the past?

Await you reply soon.

To answer your questions - yes this did happen before last month. I went to ER and had a head scan. All clear and they told me I was dehydrated. I am not diabetic. Had a physical in December and all of my blood work looked great and no major problems. My blood pressure tends to be on low end usually with bottom number between 60 and 65. I was able to drive myself home today. Just felt occasionally dizzy and nauseous. My drinking of fluids has been minimal this past week.

Brief Answer:
Stay hydrated.Stay healthy

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for sharing the quick info.

Yes dehydration leads to low blood pressures.Dehydration->reduced blood pressure->reduced blood supply to your brain->dizziness.
Suggest-
-Plenty of oral fluids.Atleast 4-5 litres/day.
-Never skip/delay any meal especially your breakfast is most important meal of the day.
-Always carry table salt with you.Mix half tea spoon of salt in 200ml of water and drink when you feel dizzy.Salt retains water, increases your pressures and relieves dizziness.

Hope this answers your query.Do rate my answer if it helps.

Thank you for your information. It is amazing how bad dehydration makes me feel and I hope noW I have learned my lesson. So far today I have drank 32 ounces of water. How many ounces should I drink a day in general? A few days ago, I also had awful continuous diarrhea due to drinking too much orange juice. Do you think that had something to do with pushing this dehydration to the surface? My headache is pretty bad right now as I am trying to sleep and I cannot. You are reassuring me I do not have anything terminal. Thank you for your further help and reassurance.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry at all.It purely because of dehydration.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

Yes, if the fluid intake is not proportional to fluid loss during diarrhea then it certainly will be the cause of dehydration.Oral rehydration solution(ORS) intake has to match the stool output.
Juices especially orange juice when taken in large amounts can stimulate the gut and might have triggered your bowel.Drinking juice in moderation is good.Too much of juice(canned) contains added sugars and additive which are not good for health.
You need to have 120 to 150 ounces of fluids-can be water, juice, milk or any fluid. You can take 2-3 ounces at repeated intervals of 30-45 minutes.Make it a habit to carry a water bottle along with you.

Take Paracetamol 500mg after light food. This is the best medicine which relives you headache.Take rest.Nothing to worry.Get well soon.

Its very clear that dizziness is only due to dehydration.Nothing to worry at all.

Please reel free to post me if you have any queries.

Just wanted to check in and let you know I am feeling much better. Yesterday I drank 64 ounces of water over the course of the day. I also downloaded an app on my phone that helps with reminding to drink daily, etc. Thank you again for all if your help and patient words. It took a few days to feel normal and it showed me the lesson that being hydrated properly sets a goid foundation for overall health and strength. If we are dehydrated, everything feels awful. Thank you again very much!
