What Causes Unilateral Sore Throat?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Jan 2017
Question: I have had a sore throat on one side (left side) for 4 days. Last night I noticed external tenderness as well. I have no other symptoms (cough, fever, sinus). However, I have been recently plagued by GERD, which I have had under control for about a month now by taking Zantac every morning. I am a 59 year old female. XXXX

Brief Answer:
Pharyngitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi ma'm
Welcome to healthcare magic and thanks for putting up the query
unilateral sore throat commonly is due to post nasal drip or tonsillitis..as you are saying that u have developed tenderness also, it can be an abscess which has started to form or neck infection..the exact diagnosis is possible only on examination..so my advise is to get examined by an ENT specialist.. A throat swab or some intervention is to be done or not will depend on that
If You can send me the pictures, i can also suggest you better, also tell me do you have any problem while swallowing
for now do hexidine gargles and take an antiinflammatory tablet like a combination of diclofenac and serratiipeptidase..
Continue taking zantac
get well soon
thanks and regards
