What Causes Unexplained Bruise In Children?

Question: I was helping my daughter gwt ready this morning and I saw this. It's more brownish and she said it doesn't hurt. is it a bruise or should I get her to the dr?

I took a look at the picture you posted. It really seems like a bruise to me. Did you ask her if she fell or had an injury. If the spot is not painful, i'd think we can wait and watch. If its a bruise, then it should start clearing out and lightening up over the next few days. If not, then a doctors visit is on the cards.

Infections and the like are normally pretty painful and itchy.. so we can probably rule those out right now. When i zoom into the picture, i can't make out any bite marks, so insect bites are a doubt (though, sometimes a low resolution picture can miss things).

So to my mind, a bruise is still the top possibility, warm water compresses should help with clearing it up.
