Posted on Wed, 16 Apr 2014
Question: Hi, my mother went through a angioplasty for 90% blockage. She is 86 years old. I do not know medically which arterywas blocked but stent was placed inside. After that she used to complain about uneasiness and feeling of lifelessness. Sorbitrate was givento her sos. Same symptons continued for week and then she had a second angioplasty on another artert with about 60% blockage as a precaution keeping inmimnd about her feeling uneasy. But even after her second angioplasty she still complains about uneasiness and a feeling of lifelessness and is administered sorbitrate sos. We are at our wits end not knowing what is going on with our mother inspite of two angioplasties

Brief Answer: need to see the doctor and discuss Detailed Answer: Dear I understand your situation and concern but there are few issues which aren't very clear. First if there were only two blocks and they have been removed it is very unusual that she still needs sorbitrate. Also sorbitrate need to be given for chest pain and not for other symptoms. In fact can reason for her lightheadedness rather than cure. Only two possibilities that I can think here is that: 1) Her symptoms are as side effect of some of the cardiac medicines 2) Possibility is that they are unrelated and need not be related to heart and she might have to see physician or neurologist. It would be a Good idea to go back to the Cardiologists and ask them to re-evaluate her medications and explain why they are giving her these medications.
