What Causes Twinging Sensation On The Jaws?

default
Posted on Wed, 9 Aug 2017
Question: I feel a twinging below my right jaw, that goes down to my throat. Not a pain, just sort of a tightening, only on that side. I goes away in about a minute or less, but has been happening for about 4 days, very occasionally. My heart rate is normal but it seems to be near my carotid artery, and wondering if it is serious? To describe it more like an eye twitching or very light cramp on that side of my face and then it goes away?

Brief Answer:
Can be akin to facial tics - stress, anxiety, exertion, less sleep

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns well.
I do no think this to be worried about as per the history you have provided.
This can happen due to stress, anxiety, exertion, less than normal sleep or so on. Another reasons can be electrolyte imbalance if there is dehydration due to any cause.
This can indeed be akin to facial muscle spasms/tics.
Many a times it is difficult to know the cause.
Since this is happening for 4 day, you can keep a watch on it and consult your Doctor if it worsens.
Please give any additional information if you have.
