Brief Answer:
Possibility of sympathetic bladder retention.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Whenever there is a procedure performed through the perineal region, it is common for sympathetic bladder retention to occur. This means the reflex of emptying the bladder gets inhibited and though you need to empty the bladder, you cannot do so.

In the current scenario, I would ask you to consult your health care provider and see if you need a temporary catheter inserted into the bladder to drain the urine. Once done, this often gives relief. You can also try applying heat compress to the lower abdomen to help empty the bladder. Some amount of intestinal spasm is often felt after the procedure and relief can be obtained by using an anti-spasmodic. If you do not observe any bleeding per rectum, you need not worry.

Hope I have answered your query. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
