What Causes Tremors In Hands?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: For a few years i have bouts of my hands shaking. Some very mild events, but at times my hands shook so much i can't write, hold a glass, etc. It seemed to occur severely when i was under stress but now it has started to happen in the most benign situations (signing at the bank to pull out cash, etc.) I am struggling right now to type this to you. This started about 4 years ago and now put me on edge about what is going on here. Thank You for any advice you might have for me.

Brief Answer:
Resting Tremor, alcoholism . Needs work up

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Tremors you mentioned are likely essential tremors. That needs evaluation though and ruled out for other causes. Alcohol intake alone can lead to such tremors. Thyroid functions evaluation is also advised . Using alcohol to treat tremors is like extinguishing fire with more gasoline.

Quit alcohol, get evaluated by a neurologist, get a complete baseline work up to sort out the cause of this tremor. Let the doctor decide what are your options. Deep brain stimulation and abstinence from triggering substances like medications etc will be likely advised.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
