What Causes Tremors In Hand Post Alcohol Consumption?

default
Posted on Wed, 25 Mar 2015
Question: For about 15 years I have had a tremor in my hand. I think it's partly due to alcohol consumption but there is also anxiety. The day after drinking I sm very shaky. My hand can shake in a passive state but I fear drinking tea or coffee in company. I'm not able to do it. I avoid these situations. Next week I will be attending various meeting, staying in a hotel and will need to socialise at receptions and eat in the company of others. I dread this. What can I do?

Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.
If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have told you that-You already know the factors which precipitate your tremors and those are alcohol intake along with anxiety. So,please try to limit your alcohol intake. However,to prevent alcohol withdrawal tremors,I suggest you to take Tab.chlordiazepoxide(Librium) 10 mg three times a day for next 5 days.Along with clonazepam 0.25 mg twice a day to reduce your anxiety levels, will help.PLEASE TAKE MEDICINES UNDER A PHYSICIAN'S GUIDANCE.

Abstinence from alcohol and mental relaxation should bring improvement in your tremors. That is the true management,of course.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have some follow-up questions,I shall be glad to answer else, please close the thread-rate it and write a review.
