What Causes Tongue Soreness And Oral Thrush Post Sinus Surgery?
Question: Hi I am 42 years old. I am a smoker . I have had sinus surgery and was just taking zpac for bronchitis. I currently take prednisone since july from my sinus surgery. I am.taking lexapro every day and have oral thrush in the back of my throat. I am currently using nystatin because I constantly get that from my advair. My concern is the last week my tongue has been sore . The soreness is a little better but now my tongue itches too. Could that be thrush on tongue or something more. ? My mouth always feels.dry too.

The tongue soreness could be from candida/thrush since you have thrush in your throat and have reasons for risk of thrush.
You also have risks for increased stomach acid (Prednisone, Lexapro, sometimes Zpac) and if this is coming up it could irritate your tongue.
Given that you are a cigarette smoker, you should probably have it looked at if it continues.
If the tongue is sore from thrush, the treatment is Nystatin for starters. And for the dryness, you can try an over the counter mouth moistener that you can get at a drug store such as Biotene.
I am sure you already know this, but please, please try to quit smoking. I know it is hard to do - maybe one of the hardest substances to quit. But tobacco use puts you at risk for infections (sinusitis, bronchitis), taxes and weakens your immune system, delays healing, and of course puts you at risk for many forms of cancer.
After you get these infections cleared up, consider talking with your doctor or visiting a smoking cessation doctor/clinic for help with quitting smoking. There are medications that can help make the process easier.

Thank you very much. I also have a bloated stomach all.the time which my doctor.either thinks is.ibs.or gastritis. Has put me on nexium for that but still.dont see any results. Ive had that for years and had a endoscopy done but ny skin is.itching on the outside of my stomach now. Could that be from that
