Question: I still have a strange tingling on my scalp, and I have not taken any allergy meds in about 2 weeks now. Could it be from hair spray or other hair products?

Hello XXXXXXX

Scalp tingling is a nonspecific symptom that can be from a number of causes.

Can you see if there is a rash or redness also?

If this started after using new hair products, that very well can be the problem. People can have reactions of varying degrees to any cosmetics, shampoos, hair colorings, sprays, other other products on the hair or scalp.

What sorts of things do you put on your hair/scalp, and is anything new?

No new products, I use shampoo, lite conditioner, then hairspray. I thought it was due to Claritan, so I quite using it, but to no avail. Thanks

Scalp tingling would not be a common side effect for Claritin.

If any of your hair products are new, consider stopping it for a few days to see if it makes a difference.

Also, if the Celexa is a fairly new medicine for you, it may be a possibility, but this would be rare for it to cause scalp tingling.

Scalp tingling, if there is no rash, may be a paresthesia - an abnormals sensation from nerves. If stopping the hair products doesn't make a difference, consider going to your doctor to have your blood sugar tested, and thyroid function tested (both are blood tests).

Anxiety can also cause head or scalp tingling.

If none of these things turn out to be the issue, consider next to see a neurologist for evaluation.
