Question: I have a tingling in my genital area ( penis and testicles). I've been married for 25yrs, my wife has been my only sex partner. I've had the feeling off and on for a few months, but lately, it seems to be happening more often. It is not painful, nor do I notice any other symptom. I'm 54 yrs old, while male, somewhat overweight. 6'1" and 260lbs.

Brief Answer:
Examinations are necessary to achieve a correct diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

It is difficult to find the disease just by one symptom, so, examinations in such case, take an important role in achieving the correct diagnosis.

Conditions that may cause tingling in genital area include infections (herpes, clamydia etc.even if you didn't have any other sex partners), pudendal nerve damage, or compression, lumbar spine stenosis ( herniated disc disease, spondylolisthesis ), etc.

Examinations needed to achieve a correct diagnosis include imaging of lumbar spine imaging (MRI), lab tests about STD.

Discuss with your primary care Doctor about getting examined further.

Treatment options depend on diagnosis.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Kind regards.

I have had two lamenectomys on l- 4 - S -5 .There is no remaking disc at that level. I now have another herniated disc at the l-4 level, which involves a pinched nerve causing pain down the leg. One neurosurgeon recommends another lamenectomy another neurosurgeon disagrees and offered axialif spinal surgery. Can you discuss the pros and cons of each. I am unable to tolerate any type of pain medication for various reasons. I have tried physical therapy and epidural steroid injections without success. I understand that there is some new form of physical therapy for lack of a better word to use. I understand that this therapy was developed by a physician, who like myself, has cerebral palsy and disc problems. Supposedly, this I doctor avoided surgery as a result of this therapy. I also understand that a grant for this treatment must be procured. Do you know anything about this doctor or this treatment.? Can you furnish the details so that I can obtain a grant and begin treatment? I have been in constant pain for the last five years leaving me unable to do anything. I would like to avoid surgery and get my life back. I live in New Orleans, LA. Thank you very much for your assistance.

For surgery on a herniated disc at C5-C6, what is the customary number of days for recovery in the hospital after the surgery? This is a regular surgery on the neck with a fusion. A platelet is being put in with 4 screws and the disc is being replaced with an artificial disk (polycarbonate). It is not keyhole surgery.

I am a year old female with celiac disease and lumbar herniated discs. I had a complete hysterectomy ten years ago due to endometriosis, cysts and tumors. I was taken back into surgery two days later due to internal bleeding and believe this caused bladder damage and scar tissue. Also went into instant menopause and suffer from hormonal imbalances. Symptoms include insomnia, depression, mood swings, hot flashes and night sweats. I have a small hiatal hernia and a history of colonic polyps and melanoma. My gall bladder was removed three years ago. Covered in adhesions, this was an attempt to solve chronic upper right quadrant pain. I have been on pain medication and started to experience chronic constipation and am now seeing blood in my stool. Blood work as of three weeks ago shows high MCV, MCH, CO2, Bili total, AST and ALT. Low: WBC, Neutro Absolute & B12. Normal range: Thyroid, D s, LH, TSH, FSH, CK and GFR. My doctor, general practitioner, suspects Sphincter of Oddi due to pain and high Bili. She advises I go out of state (I live in New Mexico) to a specialist for further testing. Haven t told her about the blood in stool yet as it has just started to occur over last two weeks. I have followed a strict gluten free regime for ten years but suspect I have inflammation and possibly damage to my intestines. I would appreciate a fresh prospective on my situation and any suggestions of other possible causes that may be contributing to my pain -- have read statements on line from others with Celiac having URQ pain issues. Thank you.
