What Causes Tingling In Tongue After Suffering From Prolonged Sore Throat?

Posted on Sat, 20 Dec 2014
Question: I have had an on and off again sore throat for about 2 months. My tongue feels like it is tingling, mostly on the sides, also on and off. My tongue also usually has a film on it and has been feeling a little swollen lately. Just curious if this could be due to my acid reflux or tmj?

Brief Answer:
Acid reflux, Vitamin deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. These are symptoms of acid reflux and vitamin deficiency.

2. The coating on the tongue is commonly seen with indigestion and reflux, dehydration, decreased salivation, post nasal drip and fungal infections.

3. A direct examination and a videolaryngoscopy will help check the extent of the problem.

If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Is there any certain vitamins I should be taking? Could this also be the cause of a white spot I have in a crack of my tongue on the tip. It has been there for about a year, seems to come and go and is usually painless. It seems to show up when the film on my tongue is bad.
