What Causes Tingling In Hands, Numbness In Feet And Dizziness?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Sep 2015
Question: Recently I've experienced a host of neurological symptoms for the past six months. It all started with tingling in my left hand which came and went. This was followed by weird sensation in the feet. Not necessarily numbness but feeling as if the feet were falling asleep. I then noticed that I was starting to feel slightly dizzy. Not vertigo. But I had a heavy feeling in my head and I felt slightly slightly off-balance. I found that it was worse when I was indoorsand felt better when I was outside walking. It's sensation would come for a week and then leave. And then would come back for another week and leave. I then felt as though my whole body was on edge, as if at any moment my limbs would jerk at random. The only time my limb has actualky jerked was when i was falling asleep. This has been happening more frequently recently. Ive also felt a weird sensation in my left arm ( not numbness

Brief Answer:
Variability in symptoms.Unlikely to be organic disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

If you would have presented to me as an outpatient with these complaints,I would have told you that there is a lot of variability in your symptoms.
Initially, the tingling in the hands came and went. Then, heaviness in the head was better while walking outside. This remained for a week and then disappeared and then again came and left.Jerk in limbs during sleep is normal, which happens to almost everyone. It is called as nocturnal physiological myoclonus.

Such a variability of symptoms is not likely due to an organic disease. It does not localize to a particular organ system.
It appears to be a manifestation of 'anxiety'. It is 'psychosomatic' in nature.

I suggest you to please start doing regular mental relaxation exercises like meditation/yoga and observe for the response. You can start on anti-anxiety medicine like clonazepam, which will likely be of help.PLEASE TAKE MEDICINES UNDER A PHYSICIAN'S GUIDANCE ONLY.

Hope that I have answered your query. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to answer else please close the thread, rate it and write a review as your rating will be of help to me.

Brief Answer:
It does not mean that every dizziness is multiple sclerosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

Multiple sclerosis is diagnosed mainly on the basis of focal neurological deficits and MRI findings.None of the two key things fit in your case.

Dizziness may have hundred causes. That does not mean that dizziness alone can make a diagnosis.

I assure you that it is not MS.Not even fractions of chances.

Hope that I have answered your query. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to answer else please close the thread, rate it and write a review as your rating will be of help to me.
