Posted on Mon, 16 Feb 2015
Question: Both my feet are tingling - not sore but a feeling of pins and needles. I am on hypertension medication, but my blood pressure is currently 157/88. Is there any explanation for my feet feeling like this, and could it be related to high blood pressure or anxiety. I am 64 years of age.

Brief Answer:
Due to vit B12 deficiency. Not related to BP

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Tingling and pins and needles sensation is due to peripheral neuropathy.
2. Usually due to vit B12 deficiency.
3. Hypertension does not cause peripheral neuropathy. It usually damages blood vessels.
4. Vit B12 therapy will be helpful.
5. Your blood pressure is slightly high on systolic side due to anxiety. Need relaxation.

Take vit B12 supplements and improve overall nutrition with diet rich in green leafy vegetables, fish, etc.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
