Brief Answer:
It seems to be due to local blood circulation issues. Needs evaluafion!!!

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for consulting at HCM !

I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns today and will put my best efforts to get you out of this situation.

This is not as simple as it looks like at your finger. This is a chronic wound and such kind of lesions develop due mainly to:-

1. Loss of local blood supply (Ischemia) that causes delayed healing or non healing wounds and ulcers in skin.
2. Collagen is a structure needed for wound healing. if there is more destruction than new collagen formation at the local site there will be a laceration and difficulty closure of wound.
3. Neuropathy as is common in diabetics and hypertensive patients also may cause this kind of lesions. it is damage to the nerves that leads to poor healing lacerated skin in the area of damage.
4. Vasculitis is a disease of local blood vessels that leads to poor wound healing mechanism and chronic skin wounds.
5. Increased blood pressure and increased levels of Cortisol as happens in emotional stress causes a decreased immunity and lowered wound healing.
8. Malignancy---Rapid Cell proliferation due to repeated local tissue damage. It is actually a skin ulcer (usually squamous cell cancer of skin).

Excessively dry skin gets irritated and if there is repetitive skin injury to the area that can even be due to pressure as we do apply in writing with a ball point.

All of those conditions are just probabilities as You need to consult a VASCULAR SURGEON in person to get it diagnosed. He may also have to take biopsy of the skin to rule out malignancy. He will also rule out any vascular lesion in the area.

Treatment goes according to the cause. We may go for:-
Oxygenation
warm or moist wound healing
vaccum suction healing of wound
systemic antibiotics.
debridement and some other therapies

Brief Answer:
To me it doesn't seem like a cancer. May be fungal infection though!!!

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back with follow up query. I am happy to assist you in resolution of the doubts you have.

You can not comment on it without going into the diagnostics like biopsy. But I will add this doesn't seem to be a cancer. But you never know. It is good to get it evaluated as aforementioned.

Please STOP applying BETNOVATE CREAM as it may reduce healing of wound and may also cause more and more fungal infection.

This type of disease can also be due to Fungal infection of the finger. So, evaluation is mandatory as it can be anything ranging from benign to malignant.

Hope I addressed all the concerns you have. Let me know if you have further questions. I will be more than happy to clear any doubts. Please give your 'rating' (if agreed, Five Stars) to help me assist patients in a better way; and, please don't forget to click on 'Close The Discussion'.
