What Causes Throat Tightness, Dizziness And Flushed Feeling In Body?

default
Posted on Wed, 7 Oct 2015
Question: I have been having feelings that start with a tightening in my throat that goes to my head with a flushing feeling, weak and dizzy. It lasts about 5 - 7 mins symptoms will subside then start again sometimes 2 or 3 of these before it stops. A few days will go by before I get another flare. I have tried to track what I've eaten before and it happens no matter what I've eaten. There is no pattern to why this happens. I am 67 years old and had a hysterectomy when I was 32 so menopause is out of the question.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. It appears to be possible symptoms of panic attack.
2. Menopause and allergic symptoms have been ruled out, so, this appears to be a distinct possibility.
3. Stress or anxiety leading on to these symptoms appears to be all features of panic attack.
4. Psychiatrist evaluation may be necessary.
5. Aerobic exercise, relaxation, and benzodiazepine medication maybe necessary.
6. Reduced caffeine intake will be helpful.
