What Causes Throat Pain Along With Difficulty Swallowing?

Question: I am having severe throat pain and difficulty in swallowing. No flum or cold. dryness in the throat and red marks inside the throat and the red spots on the vocal chord. My familydoctor gave me erox cv 625 last time for same problem about 7 months back. He is out of town for a week. Should i take the same drug erox cv 625 twice a day for five days. I am a vegetarian and drink only water from XXXXXXX filter at home. No outside food either. Weather is a bit cold and must be the reason for the ailment.

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having severe throat pain.

As per your clinical details, it appears to be acute pharyngitis.

Erox-cv 625 contains amoxycillin +clavulinic acid, should be taken thrice daily. Best works for acute pharyngitis. As the duration of your previous intake of these antibiotic is more than 6 months, there is no likely chance of any resistance. You can continue with the same antibiotic even now.

Please add tab.paracetamol (dolo 650mg) twice daily after food with salt water gargle twice daily for relieving the pain and congestion.

Dear Doctor,

Thank you for the advice. Last time around i was given erox cv 625 twice a day by the family docotor. I used to take it at 9.00 am and 9.00 pm for five days. Hence kindly advice

a. Twice a day is sufficient

b. Five days is sufficient

c. I can bear the pain and hence avoiding Dolo is alright.

Adult dose is 625 mg thrice daily for 5-7 days. It's dose adjusted according to the severity and to prevent resistance.

If it is painless, you can skip dolo.
