What Causes Thickening Of The Bladder Wall?
I'm waiting for a callback from her primary physician but would like to know what might cause this symptom.
We will be making an appointment with a urologist.
Bladder infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Although I would like a more detailed description of the thickness and the location for a better understanding of the cause, I can say that thickening of the bladder wall can have different causes, most common of which Cystitis (bladder inflammation due to an infection).
If your daughter is also experiencing frequent urination, urinating in small quantities, burning while peeing, low-grade fever, cloudy urine that has a strong smell when it is most probably Cystitis.
Another possibility is a condition called Neurogenic bladder, which is a dysfunction of the bladder due to a brain injury and this condition would also manifest with frequent urination, incontinence, bed wetting at night or even inability to pass urine.
However, the first step is to exclude malignancy. A urine test looking cells under a microscope, a cystoscopy (endoscopy of the bladder) and if necessary, a biopsy, are the next diagnostic tests to investigate the cause of the bladder wall thickening.
This is all I am able to say, given the limited information you have provided. I would be happy to answer any further questions you might have.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
